interlocked

Back when I was a kid, I used to love crafting ornate puzzle boxes out of Lego. There would be just one way to open the box, by carefully shifting and rotating a bunch of pieces. Well, either that, or breaking the box in frustration.

Interlocked takes that spirit and turns it into a beautiful Flash game. It’s a good thing the soundtrack is soothing, because the game itself can get pretty frustrating.

At the start of each level, you’re presented with a box built out of blocks in different colors. You can click and drag the mouse to rotate the box any which way. Once you decide you want to shift a part of the box, hit SPACE to switch into “move” mode. You can then click any part of the box and drag it. Of course, you can only move a part as long as nothing is in its way. So it becomes a matter of understanding how the box is built, and what parts you need to move around so you could eventually take the box apart.

It’s a tricky, difficult game, but it’s a great brain teaser — and definitely a keeper.

It looks like T-Mobile is getting a seven-inch stablemate for the incoming Galaxy Tab 10.1. According to these shots from TmoNews, Huawei’s dual-core MediaPad will arrive in magenta clothing, though branding is limited to a few apps and an additional press shot, included after the break. Aside from a 1280 x 800 IPS display and 4G goodness, details remain sketchy, though pricing is expected to be around $200 with a two-year agreement. No word either when it’ll go on sale, but if Huawei’s earlier promises of end-of-year availability apply to carrier-branded versions, you can expect to get your hands on it at some (vague) point between now and 2012.

This Sunday will be a major television-viewing day for millions of Americans. Most of them will pay to have Fox’s broadcast of the Super Bowl beamed into their homes. But I won’t.

What gvmt incompetence, corruption in India looks like - storing liquor instead of food ...

It may seem improbable to young Americans today, but before 1948, home entertainment existed in the form of radio. Prior to 1948, in fact, all American homes had a large radio (it was actually more like furniture) that was the centerpiece of the family living room.

Each evening after dinner mom, dad and the kids would gather around the radio to enjoy mysteries, comedy shows and musical entertainment. They had nothing to look at; they could only listen and imagine.

Interestingly, when television began appearing in American homes in 1948, there were few homes that actually had TVs and there was very little programming for those that did. There may have been no more than five or six stations broadcasting to very few viewers. TV screens were very small, in black and white only, required the use of a picture tube… and all programming went off the air at about 11:00 P.M. each evening.

When programming ended for the day, it was replaced by “test patterns.” They would fill the screen until programming resumed early the next morning. Of course, there was no satellite television back then, no cable… just a handful of over-the-air networks providing very limited programming.

Clearly, home entertainment is different in the 21st century. Small black and white TV screens have been replaced by huge full color flat screens. The original five or six (or perhaps seven) original national and local networks have ballooned to a point where viewers now have access, on demand, to hundreds of networks offering a broad array of entertainment choices.

Television in this new century is “cutting edge,” very technologically-advanced and the more astute and actively-engaged programming operators are in the forefront and working with TV networks to enhance and improve the home entertainment experience for American audiences.

It is an ongoing process, but the future certainly looks bright. In fact, it’s reasonable to believe that the home entertainment experience will improve exponentially in the years ahead. Clearly, when it comes to enjoying TV at home, there are no limits.

It is also important to note that 21st century television will offer more than just entertainment… it will be where commerce takes place, as well; a place where a viewer can make a large purchase for an automobile or a home. And smart and savvy programming operators will be on hand to help make it possible.

The follow-up to his breakout The Adventures of Bobby Ray is tentatively due in ‘early spring.’

B.o.B teamed up with Lil Wayne on the brand-new “Strange Clouds,” and apparently he liked the result so much he’s decided to name his album after it.

During an interview with Atlanta radio station V-103, B.o.B confirmed that the follow-up to his massive The Adventures of Bobby Ray album would, in fact, be called Strange Clouds. The singer spoke about the lead-off single, saying it just seemed like the logical choice to launch the next phase of his career.

” ‘Strange Clouds’ … is the first single off my sophomore album, [which is] actually titled Strange Clouds,” he told V-103. “Wayne actually got on it pretty quick. It was a quick turnaround. We were kind of debating on it, man, but we just felt like this is the song that should go first. I feel really strong about it and I like to take my time with music.

“When you do a song with somebody, it’s basically like you’re starting a business with that person … it creates a lot of opportunities,” he continued. “I’m glad that he blessed me with a verse, man, and it’s the first single off my album, so I’m excited about it.”

B.o.B added that Strange Clouds would hit stores in “early spring,” adding that, “I want it to be sooner!”

Earlier this year, he told MTV News that fans should expect “some surprises” on the new disc and subsequently called it “a real special project.” And though the title track features Weezy, producer Jim Jonsin recently let it be known that folks expecting a sequel to The Adventures of Bobby Ray — and the sundry of features it, uh, featured — might be disappointed, because Strange Clouds is very much a B.o.B project.

“What Bob wanted to do was go into the lab himself and spend his time creating what he wanted his album to have, the direction he wanted,” Jonsin told MTV News. “So we’re waiting on him to come back with that house that he’s built so we can go ahead and put all the fixtures in and try to help with it.”

Sprint’s the last of the big four national carriers to offer a Bill to Account program, which allows equipment purchases to be billed directly to the customer’s account (provided they’re in good standing). Unfortunately, it’s likely going to be the next consumer-friendly policy to get the boot out the door, never to be seen again. According to the SprintFeed screenshot, Sprint appears to be concerned that too many people are taking advantage of the service by terminating their plans before the equipment’s actually paid off. We’re uncertain of how much money this practice was costing the company, but the Now Network is looking to shave dollars off its expenditures any way it can before the inevitable LTE launch comes around. Farewell, Bill to Account — we hope you come visit us again sometime.

Update: We’ve been hearing from our readers that Verizon still has a Bill to Account option.

Sprint set to end Bill to Account program on October 5th, all equipment must be purchased outright originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 29 Sep 2011 09:31:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
