Organizations in the Entertainment market are in a field that is heavy on creativity, innovation, style, and trends. What people found entertaining last year may be boring this year. Trends in music and video game tastes change over time. Stability is not a hallmark of this industry. So a logo that works great for a bank may be too sedate for an Entertainment company. The relevant point here is that a logo must fit the company’s image and the nature of its business. Some entertainment business owners actually ask professional designers to “piggyback” on some identity from an unrelated company simply because they like it. All images — regardless of industry — must fit the company they are intended to represent.
Considerations in Designing an Entertainment Logo
Entertainment companies are particularly difficult to design for. Because of the nature of that industry it’s easy to overdo the “sizzle” in designing the logo. Yes you want strong and bold colors but be careful of how many you use. Yes you want creative imagery, but be careful about incorporating graphics that can’t be enlarged or reduced. Will that 3d enhancement that looks great on a poster transfer to a letterhead or to the Internet? Just like any other business, entertainment company logos are the starting point for all communication efforts. Letterhead, business cards, marketing material, promotional items, advertising material, and even corporate offices all incorporate the business identity.
Take color as an example. Yes you want to use bold colors like red, orange, and maybe even indigo. Blues and blacks are desirable as well and gradients of these colors add impact. But make sure you check what happens in Black and White. If the logo won’t produce well either adjust the colors or make sure the entertainment company for whom the image is being designed has a budget that will allow for a hundred percent color reproduction.
Font size is another issue that follows the same principle. 3d Effects with certain fonts look great but will they look great everywhere the identity is applied. The “Keep it Simple” rule of design is especially important because it is easy to confuse simplicity with being dull and boring. But simplicity works with these companies. Consider one of the most famous entertainment logos of all time: Paramount Pictures.
The Paramount Logo – Great Example
Simple, elegant, and originally appearing in three colors with minimal shading, this logo has been around with some minor variations for almost a hundred years. The mountain, the stars, and the sky are all attention grabbers. What’s more this image evokes curiosity in the viewer. What does a mountain have to do with movies? Is that Mount Fujiyama? What do the stars represent? Some think the movie was just a doodle on the designer’s pad but the stars we know were meant to represent the twenty four movie stars who were signed with Paramount at the time. Paramount’s original owner, Adolph Zukor, was one of the first to establish Hollywood’s star system where famous actors and actresses would make movies for a single studio. While the stars are white note the color gradations in the sky in some uses of the logo. Note that these gradations do not harm the impact of the design when reproduced in black and white. Current entertainment companies would do well to study those images that have withstood the test of time.

What does Their Website Look Like?

Ask for Details About the Performance
If you’re hiring a balloon twister, ask what kinds of sculptures they make. If you’re hiring a magician, ask what kinds of acts they perform and what their audience participation is like. Get the idea? The point here is that any professional entertainer is going to be intimately familiar with the product they’re selling you. If they stumble on this point, move on.
When in Doubt, Ask for References
Be sure to qualify those references. Relatives and close friends don’t count. You want to hear from bona fide customers who were satisfied with the entertainment that was provided.

Selecting the right DJ Entertainment for you Son or Daughter’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a task that should not be taken lightly. While you are doing that—and reaching as far out, up, or down as you can, remembering the execs, the emcees, the paper-pushers, the makeup artists, the go-cart mechanics and caterers, etc.—I will round up a couple of sources for entertainment industry jobs:
The Bureau of Labor Statistics features entertainment industry jobs, and discusses and describes the job duties, the trends, the requirements, and much more for thousands of jobs. (Their site lists lots of other entertainment industry jobs, like amusement park attendants and entertainers, hotel work, museum work, etc. etc.!)
Also check entertainment industry jobs boards. Many have a database of articles and information to help you define, determine, and decide. Some cost a few dollars; others offer a free trial period.
And check the unions…the union websites like screenwriters’ guilds, and all. You will find that huge or tiny but imperative position!
As I write this, Maggie, one of my former models, is just coming off a TV set for a beach show in North Carolina and is now heading out west to act as a stand-in on the new TV show, “Friday Night Lights”.
TV studios need these stand-ins to represent the actors while setting the lights, etc. for the next scene. Maggie tells me that the money is pretty good (and she’s working!).
So, you see, there are entertainment industry jobs that you may not even know exist today but you may be working in one of them tomorrow.

Different Types of Entertainment
Before we look into different types of entertainment, first let’s define what entertainment is. Entertainment is any kind of activity that provides amusement for people in a passive way, other entertaining activities that involve participating are considered recreation or hobbies.
There are many types of entertainment for particular tastes, for example we have cinema, theatre, sports, games, social dance, concert, comedy shows, animations, impressionists, clowns and the list goes on and on.
These form of entertainment can than be divided into groups according to the age and interest of the people being entertained. For instance we have child , adult , live action , public and corporate entertainment. In this article we’ll give a brief explanation to some of these forms.
Child Entertainment
Kids need to be entertained and some times the entertainer or the entertainment agency needs to find a balance between mental and physical activities. Clowns, puppets, pantomimes and cartoons tend to appeal to children, though adult might find it enjoyable too.
Adult Entertainment
Adult Entertainment many times is related to the sex industry, but this form of entertainment can not be related only with the sex industry and its branches. Children’s Entertainment – Who Needs Entertaining?
What price to entertain our children? How much entertainment do our children need? At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, how were children entertained a 100 years ago when there were no television or computer games? Very simply I would imagine.
Imagination – The key to all adventures. Babies and small children will play with simple things like empty boxes, clothes pegs, pots and pans. To them they are all sorts of things because they use their imagination. They don’t expect to be entertained with expensive toys or computer systems they just need to touch and feel things to have fun. Simple songs with actions will be remembered well beyond childhood years and hopefully be passed on to the next generation of children needing to be entertained. Dressing up, making things out of cardboard and paper, the possibilities are endless all that is needed is a little imagination.
Birthday parties used to be simple affairs, nowadays our children expect to have an entertainer or bouncy castle at their parties. Whatever happened to pass the parcel or blind mans buff? The more entertainment we provide for our children the more they seem to need.
Today’s society seems to dictate the trend, maybe we should all try and steer our children gently back to simple entertainment. Switch the ‘telly’ off, dig out the board games, if you can survive the moans and groans of your children then you might just be able to persuade them that entertainment needn’t be just by means of televisions and computers. You can have fun together. You can talk and communicate and entertain each other. Go out to the theatre, see a pantomime, all good fun ways of entertaining the whole family. Small children used to be given colouring books and pencils, now the trend is to plonk them down in front of the television and let it entertain them. Who knows what information they are subjected to. Children will learn to be inactive, not a healthy pastime.

Interaction with others will stand our children in good stead by teaching them social skills and encouraging them to lead a healthy active lifestyle. So encourage your children to go on out there, go with them, entertain, be entertained and have fun !!!
